The Foundation Behind FlyCalm
Before FlyCalm existed as a fear of flying consultation service, it existed as an idea inside a broader aviation practice. JD Aero Services is the parent company and operational backbone that makes FlyCalm and the rest of our ecosystem possible. Founded by Julian Alarcon, a Boeing 777 Captain with experience spanning international long-haul operations, JD Aero was built on a straightforward premise: airline pilots possess a depth of knowledge that the public rarely gets access to, and that knowledge has real value outside the cockpit.
JD Aero started as a consulting practice. Airlines, aviation startups, and media companies needed credible pilot voices to advise on products, review training content, or provide expert commentary. Julian found himself answering the same kinds of questions from very different audiences -- what does turbulence actually do to an aircraft, how do pilots make decisions in bad weather, what does a normal flight look like from the front of the airplane. Over time, it became clear that the biggest underserved audience was not industry insiders. It was the general public.
